Even though they are a fairly big fish in the global world of carpets, their business still remains owned by generations of the first family members that owned the original Castleisland site in County Armagh it back in 1938.

The dedication from generations of skilled local craftsmen and women who have proudly woven Ulster carpets and their commitment to local manufacturing has ensured only the best carpets can wear the Ulster name. The whole manufacturing process is kept here in the UK, from wool processing, dyeing, weaving and then finished at Castleisland. The unrivalled quality of Ulster Carpets is down to the result of this level of control.

Not only does Ulster produce excellent carpets, they define themselves by also manufacturing stunningly designed ranges and colourways from their Kidderminster-based design team.

Ulster & the Environment

Being situated on the edge of the quaint and scenic Bann River, Ulster are constantly reminded of their responsibility to the environment and to sustainability. Something they have always been very passionate about and something they do not take lightly. Ulster has a strict environmental policy, covering all areas of manufacturing from waste management to carbon emissions. 96% of all post-industrial waste is currently being diverted away from landfills using a Variety of different waste streams, which also includes the equestrian industry. Since 2001 Ulster have reduced carbon emissions by 52% and continue to strive to be completely carbon neutral.
