Faux Sheepskin collection - Authentic looking and soft to the touch in a range of colours, sizes and shapes, made from 70% Acrylic and 30% Polyester.
Acrylic is a fine, soft and luxurious fabric used in many rugs to give striking colours as well as good stain resistance. Acrylic fabric is made from a man-made fibre which gives the appearance and feel of wool. It dyes well, taking vibrant colours well. The fabric breathes, it absorbs and releases moisture quickly. Crucially for rugs, Acrylic resists moths, oil and chemicals, and also sunlight degradation. It is softer than wool, but does not deal with crushing as well. Acrylic rugs offer a similar texture to wool at a lower price-point. The material is very resistant to stains and damage, with excellent colour fastness.
Polyester is a synthetic fibre that has a very high-lustre appearance, which translates into rugs of vibrant colours. It is soft to the hand (or foot) and inexpensive. Polyester also comes in some of the richest colours of any fibre. Because it is process-dyed, it has exceptional fade resistance. Polyester’s relatively soft fibres give it a rich feel, with high perceived quality – that is, the quality you see in a showroom. The downside is that polyester is not as resilient as other synthetic fibres like nylon, therefore polyester rugs are more susceptible to wear, matting and traffic patterns. Polyester is fairly easy to clean. It resists almost all water-based stains, but is susceptible to oil stains. Polyester rugs do not shrink.
